Pep Guardiola: Man City boss targets January and says ‘no chance’ of Premier League title

Pep Guardiola admits Manchester City have “no chance” of winning the Premier League this season, saying they “need help” during the January transfer window.

The Manchester City boss celebrated 500 games in charge of the club with a 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

City’s win – their second in their past 10 Premier League games – moves them up to fifth but 14 points behind leaders Liverpool.

“We are still far away from winning the Premier League,” Guardiola told BBC Match of the Day.

“We accept that there is no chance but we have other things to fight for: the FA Cup, the top four… winning games will help.”

City have won six of their last seven Premier League games, but before the victory over Leicester City, the club had won just one of their previous 13 league games – losing nine.

Guardiola admitted he was relieved to end a five-game winless run.

“Just relieved, that’s the word that expresses what we all feel,” he said.

“We did unbelievable things and now we’re trying to win games, so it’s just a relief right now.”
