President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio Celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day on Bonthe Island

This Christmas and Boxing Day, His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Mada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio celebrated in Punt Island, participating in a variety of activities that reflected their family traditions and aimed at strengthening community ties, while promoting the holiday spirit.

On Christmas Day, the First Family joined parishioners in a heartfelt service filled with worship and prayer at the famous St. Patrick’s Church. At this special gathering, President Bio expressed his joy in celebrating with the congregation and reiterated his commitment to support the Bonzone. In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of the diocese, a Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to him.

Later in the day, President Bio and the First Lady visited the Punt Municipal Hospital and distributed traditional Christmas gifts to children and nurses, bringing joy to many families. In a further effort to improve medical facilities, President Bio opened a new diagnostic center. Additionally, they participated in the final of the ‘Maada Bio Trophy’ football match held at the Mini Stadium.

Celebrations continued on Boxing Day, with the President and First Lady taking part in a variety of events that highlighted the island’s rich heritage. They watched an exciting canoe race involving multiple teams and presented trophies and prizes to the winners. The two also enjoyed a grand cultural festival showcasing chieftaincy competitions and performances by talented artists.

The visit reflects the traditions cherished by the First Family and underscores President Bio’s commitment to engaging with local communities, preserving cultural heritage and spreading joy during the festive season. The residents of Punt are honored to welcome the First Family, proudly showcasing the area’s vibrant heritage and ongoing development efforts.
