Hearts 1-2 Hibs: What’s changed for David Gray & Easter Road club?

It wasn’t all plain sailing, with Hibs having to bounce back from a poor first half to beat Ross County, but subsequent wins away to Aberdeen and Hearts were thoroughly worth it and featured some outstanding performances.

Easter Road have not won three games in a row in more than a year.

“We played really well and limited their chances,” Gray said after the 2-1 win over Tynecastle.

“Maybe we could have been a little more clinical. I thought we were very good in the first half.

“At 1-1 we performed well, especially away from home, and the players could have reacted very negatively after that.”

This is probably the biggest difference.

Hibs’ players looked miserable in successive defeats to St Mirren and Dundee in November, but showed an attitude of not accepting defeat in the home defeat to Aberdeen.

Unity and determination go a long way in football and it looks like Gray’s side are heading in the same direction after a tricky start filled with individual mistakes and collective nerves.

“I’m delighted for him,” former Hibs boss John Collins said of the current manager on Sportsound.

“He took so many hits left, right, center. He was probably one game away from being fired. All coaches need a little time and patience.”
