Liverpool 3-1 Leicester City: Premier League leaders will ‘stay humble’ – but lead at top ‘feels different’

At first only a small group of fans sang the song.

They chanted “Liverpool, Liverpool, top of the league… Liverpool, top of the league” after Curtis Jones made his 100th Premier League appearance and swept past struggling Leicester City 2-1.

The fans were even louder after Mohamed Salah scored his 19th club goal of the season in the 82nd minute to seal a 3-1 win.

Liverpool were already on course for victory after falling behind in the fifth minute, moving seven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over their nearest rivals.

Of course, Liverpool have been here before.

In the 2018-19 season, they led by 10 points before Manchester City won the title.

“It feels different,” Salah, who is out of contract this summer, told Amazon Prime of Liverpool’s advantage at the top of the table following their victory over Leicester City.

“But the most important thing is we need to stay humble.

“It’s very special and hopefully we can win the Premier League, which is a dream for this club.

“The most important thing is that the team wins – hopefully we win the Premier League.

“It’s great but we’re focused on every game and hopefully we can continue like that.”
