Pittsburgh’s loss opened the door for Baltimore to take over the AFC North, with much of their success due to the efforts of Jackson and the strong support of running back Derrick Henry.
Jackson’s 48-yard touchdown run was the highlight, as he reached a career-high 21.25 mph and left Houston’s defense dead — despite joking after the game that “I was jogging.”
The 87 yards gave Jackson 6,110 career yards, surpassing Michael Vick’s previous mark of 6,109 yards set in 13 seasons. Jackson has been a starter for just seven years.
The quarterback’s playmaking ability with an arm and foot speed complemented Henry’s running style – Henry rushed for 147 yards and a franchise-record 16th touchdown.
“It was another phenomenal performance,” Jackson head coach John Harbaugh said. “That’s what he does every week.”
The 11-5 Ravens have one of the top offenses in the NFL and, like the Chiefs, hit the ground running at the right time with their defense shutting out the Texans.
Unlike the Chiefs, the Ravens need to be at full strength in their final game against the Cleveland Browns to ensure they win the division title and at least a home playoff game.
