In partnership with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TıKA) and the Senegalese Ministry of Justice, two modern greenhouses were established inside Sebikotani Prison to support training and rehabilitation efforts. These facilities allow inmates to acquire greenhouse growing skills while serving their sentences.

The project, implemented in partnership with the National School of Prison Administration under the Senegalese Ministry of Justice, features two greenhouses, each with an area of 2,500 square meters. Located within Sebikotany Prison and supervised by the Dakar Regional Prison Authority, the project offers prisoners the opportunity to develop professional skills and embark on a new start.

As part of the project, a drip irrigation system was installed in the 5,000 m² greenhouse area. In addition, vegetable seeds, fruit seedlings, fertilizers, humus soil and various agricultural tools are also provided to ensure the infrastructure required for production.

A large portion of the vegetables grown in the greenhouses established by TıKA will be distributed to the prisoners for consumption, and the remainder will be sold. Revenue generated from these sales will be used by the prison administration to support prisoner rehabilitation programs.

The project aims to help prisoners reintegrate into society after their release from prison and reduce the likelihood of re-offending by providing them with greenhouse farming skills.
