Charlie Adam: Fleetwood Town sack former Liverpool man after poor run
Fleetwood Town have sacked head coach Charlie Adam after less than a year in the job after a run of wins in their last 11 league games.
Cod Corps Barrow lost 0-2 It was their fifth straight loss on Saturday, which also includes five draws.
Additionally, they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the first round at Reading last month.
Former Liverpool midfielder Adam takes over from Lee Johnson on New Year’s Eve 2023 in his first job as head coach.
The 39-year-old failed to prevent the Lancashire club from being relegated to League Two at the end of last season and they currently sit 18th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.
Fleetwood boss Jamie Pilley said: “I would like to personally thank Charlie for his dedication and professionalism over the past 12 months.
“He has been a pleasure to work with but recent results mean we feel a change is necessary. I wish him all the best for the future.”
Fleetwood’s next game is at home to Chesterfield on Boxing Day.
