Formula 1: Isack Hadjar to race for Racing Bulls

Frenchman Isack Hadjar has been promoted to Red Bull’s second team to race alongside Japanese Yuki Tsunoda for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The news fills the final spot in F1’s 20-car field.

Hadjar is Liam Lawson’s replacement and the team will now be known as the Racing Bulls. Switch to Red Bull After they waived Sergio Perez.

Hadjar, 20, finished second in Formula 2 last season to Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, who will drive for Audi-owned Sauber next year (Sauber) competes in F1 races.

Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies said: “Issac has had an excellent journey in F1. He has shown significant growth, achieving a series of impressive results in the junior single-seater ranks. Profound results.

“He has the talent and drive needed to compete at the highest level, and we have every confidence he will adapt quickly and make a big impact. I’m confident Isaac and Yoki will make a great team.”

Hajjar said: “Going from karting to single-seater racing and now into F1 is a moment that I have been working towards all my life, it is a dream.

“I feel like I’m stepping into a whole new world, driving a faster car and racing with the best drivers in the world. It’s going to be a huge learning curve, but I’m ready to work hard and do my best. OK I can play for the team.”

The announcement also effectively confirms a change in how the team will be called next year.

Red Bull’s second team will be at RB in 2024, but both Lawson and Hajjar’s announcements this week referred to them as the Racing Bulls.

RB, short for Racing Bulls, was used because the company felt the full team name (including its title sponsor, a credit card company) was too lengthy.

But this year the team’s email addresses all used the name Racing Bulls, and now Red Bull has decided to stick with the original name.

“The only question all year has been: ‘What does RB mean, what does RB mean? Now we’re making it official: RB means Bulls,'” Bulls CEO Peter Beyer said last month.

The new name is reflected in FIA F1 2025 official entry list,, external Posted last week.
