FPL gameweek 17 tips and team of week: Chelsea and Fulham should spark against struggling sides
Mohamed Salah (captain), Liverpool, £13.4m – away to Tottenham Hotspur
This week we return to the Egyptian Kings as captain.
Last week was the first time since Week 7 that he failed to score, but he still had an assist.
I was watching Tottenham 3-4 Chelsea a few weeks ago and imagining the same scene on Sunday.
With Spurs unable to defend and a defense plagued by injuries, it was the perfect stage for Salah.
Cole Palmer (vice-captain), Chelsea, £11.2m – away at Everton
Everton performed well defensively last time out against Arsenal, but on any other day they might have been beaten.
Possessed less than a quarter of the ball and conceded 13 times.
If the game against Chelsea plays out in the same way – in red hot form – then Palmer and Co. could be in for a good game.
Amad Diallo, Manchester United, £5.2m – Bournemouth home
We were rewarded last time he was named in the Team of the Week, look at how he performed in the Manchester derby!
Diallo is becoming a star, and he’s cheap too.
Excluding players with shorter minutes, only Saka (0.79) has more assists per 90 minutes than Diallo (0.71) this season.
Noni Madueke, Chelsea, £6.3m – away from Everton
The England winger was unlucky to pick up just one assist against Brentford last week.
He had seven shots on goal, six of them in the penalty area, and one great chance.
I’m fully backing Chelsea to beat Everton this week, with Madduk the midfielder with the best chance of scoring double figures outside of Palmer.
He has 3 games this season, 2 of which are away games.
Emile Smith Rowe, Fulham, £5.5m – home of Southampton
Alex Iwobi or Smith Rowe – one of them joins the team and there is little choice between the budget pair.
Smith Rowe scored 3 goals against an expected goals rating of 2.2, while Iwobi performed very well with 5 goals against an expected goals rating of 1.9xG.
That’s good reason for me to pray and bet on ESR.
