Scarlets boss Dwayne Peel expects galvanised Ospreys after Booth exit
Booth has been in charge of the Ospreys since 2020 and is expected to leave at the end of the season.
During his tenure, he led the team to URC Welsh Shield competition in the 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons. He also saw the Ospreys reach the Challenge Cup quarter-finals and URC play-offs last season.
“It’s never a good thing when a coach leaves his job like that and I shouldn’t be commenting on any decisions,” Peel said.
“I just know he’s doing a great job out there.”
The Ospreys said in September that Booth would be replaced by former Wales winger Mark Jones, who has resigned as defense coach, more than six months earlier than expected.
He is someone Peel knows very well, having broken through the Reds ranks with Llanelli’s youth set-up before becoming a Wales team-mate.
“What he’s going to bring is energy and enthusiasm and will get them emotionally ready for this game,” Peel said.
“Based on what I’ve known of him over the past 30 years, he will certainly bring those elements to their team and I wish him all the best in this position.
“He’s a rugby player through and through and I’m sure he’ll do a great job there.”
