Marco Penge: English golfer banned by DP World Tour for betting breaches
British golfer Marco Penge has been banned from the DP World Tour for betting on multiple events.
However, the PGA Tour said the 26-year-old did not place bets on himself or the tournaments he played.
This resulted in a PGA Tour disciplinary panel finding that the integrity of the event on which Penge was betting “was not compromised.”
Penge, who had just completed his first full season on the European Tour, received a three-month ban – one month banned for a year.
He was also fined £2,000.
After a tense week at the Genesis Championship in South Korea, Pengji retained his DP World Tour status in the final regular season event of last season.
Know he needs a good ending to secure his playing privileges, Penge made the five-foot putt to advance to the weekend and finish 22nd.
This gave him enough points to move into 110th place in the season standings, meaning he kept his card with just four places remaining.
Penge’s suspension began on December 13, meaning he could return to action from mid-February.
