PDC World Darts Championship 2025 results: Peter Wright wins, Ryan Meikle beats Fallon Sherrock
The 54-year-old Wright is averaging just 89.63 points per game compared to 93.77 against his opponents, but he has made enough progress.
Sporting a purple mohawk and festive attire, ‘Snakebite’ looked her best in the first set and survived eight sets of darts to take a 2-0 lead.
He lost the next game, but Dutchman Plessier missed two more set pieces in the fourth and Wright took advantage.
“Wesley had his chance and he missed it and I took it,” he said. “He’s got his tour card and he’s going to be a dangerous player for everyone who plays against him next year.”
The 30-year-old Sherlock fought back from 2-1 down to force her fellow Briton Mikel into the decider.
She then narrowly beat the Bulls at 170 in the fourth leg before left-hander Mikel summoned the courage to hit a double 18 for a score of 96 to seal a hard-earned victory.
“I felt a lot of pressure from the beginning, but the success in the end feels incredible,” Mikel said.
“It’s an incredible reward to play Luke on this stage. It’s the biggest stage of them all. I’m delighted.”
World No. 81 Jeffrey de Graaf, who was born in the Netherlands and now represents Sweden, had trouble against Rashad Sweeting, winning 3-1.
Sweeting made history as the first Bahamian player to compete in the event by taking the first set, but DeGraaf fought back to meet two-time champion Gary Anderson in the second round.
German player Ricardo Pietrecko, ranked 34th, defeated Chinese player Zong Xiaochen 3-1 and will next face Gian van Veen.
