One of its standout features is AES-256 encryption and support for multiple VPN protocols such as OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec, and WireGuard. In addition, business users can receive dedicated IP addresses (subject to pricing plans) and access to more than 3,000 servers in more than 50 countries, ensuring fast and reliable connections no matter where they are.
TorGuard supports unlimited bandwidth and unlimited speeds, making it suitable for businesses with heavy data usage, such as those involved in media production or data analysis.
Another great feature is Stealth VPN, which helps bypass VPN blocks and firewalls, making it ideal for businesses operating in countries with strict internet regulations or accessing regionally restricted content. The service also supports split tunneling, allowing businesses to route specific traffic through the VPN while allowing other data to access the internet directly. TorGuard offers two types of kill switches for enhanced security.
If the VPN connection is accidentally lost, the master kill switch shuts down all internet traffic on the device, ensuring a complete lockdown so no data leaks can occur. This feature effectively prevents your real IP address and online activities from being exposed. You can easily activate it in your network settings, and according to our testing, it’s responsive and reliable.
In the event TorGuard disconnects, the kill switch is immediately activated, blocking all traffic to protect privacy. The second option is application termination, which targets a specific application or process that you define if you don’t want to terminate the entire connection.
The Tor in the name stands for Torrenting, which explains the heavy reliance and power of P2P. You have the flexibility to torrent directly through the TorGuard application or using a SOCKS5 proxy. This provides extra security and flexibility, ensuring your data is protected.
Pricing and plans
Although TorGuard offers four different plans, we think pricing is the biggest hurdle. The Starter plan costs $32 per month and covers the “5 User Plan,” which includes 5 email accounts and 1 dedicated IP address. The next plan is Small, which covers 10 users and adds 3 dedicated IP addresses for $69 per month. The Medium plan costs $110 per month and covers 15 users and 5 dedicated IP addresses, and finally, the Large plan covers 20 users and 10 dedicated IPs and costs $169 per month.
While pricing may seem transparent and easy to follow, we prefer a per-user pricing strategy that includes more features. At the moment, it’s hard to justify TorGuard’s high pricing, let alone justify its use in serious businesses aiming to expand their services while relying on a large remote workforce.
Once you get to Business VPN’s purchase page, TorGuard will offer upsell options, such as custom VPN routers with different hardware configurations and prices. You can add additional users to your plan for an additional fee, however, the “slide to add” feature on their website is clunky and one of the worst experiences we’ve had while trying to add extras to a plan.
Performance
In terms of performance, TorGuard delivers consistently high speeds across its global server network, making it suitable for bandwidth-intensive activities such as video conferencing, large file transfers, and streaming. The VPN’s unlimited bandwidth ensures your team’s activities aren’t hampered by data caps, and its low-latency servers provide remote workers with smooth, reliable connections.
However, speeds can vary during peak hours, especially when connecting to servers in heavily congested areas. Still, TorGuard’s performance is above average compared to other business VPNs. The fact that you can select a protocol and adjust it to a very granular level allows you to squeeze out a lot more performance if you know what you’re doing.
Privacy and security
Security is solid, with its AES-256 encryption combined with multiple VPN protocols ensuring your data is always protected. The service provides DNS and IPv6 leak protection, preventing any data from accidentally leaking outside the VPN tunnel. For added security, TorGuard offers a kill switch feature that automatically disconnects you from the internet if the VPN connection is lost, preventing any unprotected data transfer.
For multiple factors verifyTorGuard integrates seamlessly with Google Authenticator, which adds an extra layer of security to account access. This is a great feature of the admin console that allows you to adjust security and privacy settings for your employees. TorGuard’s privacy policy states that they “do not collect or log any data from their virtual private network (VPN) or proxy services.” However, they do collect data through their platform, live chat, and emails they receive from users to analyze and improve their website.

Pricing is slightly higher than TorGuard, but the vast number of features it offers easily justify the price difference. Its Security Core and NetShield features protect even the most paranoid among us, while protocols like WireGuard, IKEv2, OpenVPN (TCP or UDP), and Stealth provide enough flexibility for all the tweaks you need. Over 5,000 companies entrust their operations to this Switzerland-based VPN provider, making it a better choice than TorGuard if you are in the market for a VPN provider.
final verdict
Although TorGuard Business VPN is billed as an enterprise VPN solution, it’s difficult to justify its use in corporate environments that rely on remote working. It does offer excellent performance for its core product, VPN connectivity, but there are some additional “goodies” as well when enterprises are looking to set up a ZTN environment. Niche business markets that rely heavily on P2P or only need to protect a small number of employees can benefit from using TorGuard, but enterprises that want to stay protected and scale easily would be better off looking elsewhere.
Overall, TorGuard seems to be more easily recommended to individual users looking for a reliable and fast VPN solution, and less recommended to business users.
