PDC World Darts Championship 2025 results: James Wade beaten by Jermaine Wattimena
Former world number two James Wade was knocked out by Jermaine Wattimena in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
Former Premier League, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix champion Wade lost 3-0 to Wadi Mena in their final match at Alexandra Palace on Monday afternoon.
Englishman Wade was the first seeded player to be eliminated, receiving a bye in the second round and participating as the No. 16 seed.
Wattimena, 36, will face two-time world champion Peter Wright or Wesley Plessier in the third round.
The Dutchman defeated Swiss rookie Stefan Belmont 3-0 on Sunday night, becoming the first player to compete on consecutive days at this year’s World Championships.
After losing to Wade in the first set, Wattimena won eight consecutive sets, winning the first two sets and falling just one set short of a second-round victory.
Wade hit 20 doubles in the final to avoid a whiteout in the final set, but Vatimena took advantage of Wade’s missed double to seal the victory.
Vatimena averaged 99.17 points per game in this game, and Wade averaged 97.01 points per game.
Monday night’s action includes 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price taking on Ireland’s Keane Barry in the second round.
