BOSTON — Two people were arrested in Boston on Saturday night in what police described as a “dangerous drone operation.”

Robert Duffy, 42, of Charlestown, and Jeremy Folcik, 32, of Bridgewater, were arrested on Long Island in Boston Harbor.

Both men were charged with trespassing. Boston police said additional fines or charges may be added.

Due to the drone’s proximity to Logan Airport airspace, Boston police worked with the Department of Homeland Security, Massachusetts State Police, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Logan Airport Air Traffic Control to conduct the investigation.

Three people were found at the Long Island Health Campus, which has ceased operations.

When police arrived, they said one of the suspects ran away. Duffy and Falcik were taken into custody. Police said they found a drone in Duffy’s backpack. The third suspect is believed to have fled the area in a small boat.

Duffy and Falcik are scheduled to appear in Dorchester District Court in the coming days.

Boston Police are reminding the public that recreational drone operators must follow FAA guidelines. Drones cannot fly over people or vehicles, and operators must adhere to airspace restrictions.

“Even if a small drone is hit by a jet traveling at 200 miles an hour, that’s thousands of pounds of force,” said airline pilot Patrick Smith. “That is, a small drone is It’s unlikely that a man-machine would crash a large plane, but it’s possible, of course, that you could cause millions of dollars in damage.”

Drone sightings were reported on Cape Cod for about 30 minutes Thursday night. People have reported seeing drones flashing red, green and blue lights.

“They are difficult to manage, which is why the first thing we did today was file a report with our local partners at the federal government and state police so they can begin an investigation,” Considine said.

Dozens of other drone reports have been received across Massachusetts, with the most recent reports coming from Marshfield, Natick and Tewksbury.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and state police are working with local and federal partners who are prepared to support federal authorities with jurisdiction over the airspace,” Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said in a statement.
