Women’s Six Nations 2025: Scotland and Wales to renew rivalry
The teams met again at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in England this year, making Saturday’s Six Nations fixtures even more important.

“We have three home games – Wales, Italy and Ireland – three teams are close to us in the world rankings, their abilities are close and they are also improving and developing as professionals grow at the tournament.
“It’s really healthy for the sport, but it’s great for us because it means that every time we play, we’re going to mark the teams next to us, which pushes in terms of professionalism and quality.
“Welsh is a great opportunity for us to go out and start a great start.”
The opportunity to take place Saturday at the Hive Stadium in Edinburgh is a chance to hit the psychological blow ahead of the World Cup opening in Salford on August 23, but the Scots are focused only on providing a strong Six Nations, suggesting that this summer will inevitably provide a springboard for the global championship.
“We have a lot of games, a good game,” Thomson said.
“We got Wales up first and then went to France. Last year we pushed for the French closure (Edinburgh lost 15-5), but we knew France was another animal at home.
“As a group, we’ve talked about focusing on this game. We first got Wales in the Six Nations, Wales first played in the World Cup, but we’ve done it before.
“We’re just looking forward to another great game on Saturday.”
