Miami Open 2025 results: Emma Raducanu beats Emma Navarro in remarkable contest
Raducanu still has no full-time coach after a brief trial with Slovak Vladimir Platenik earlier this week.
Against Navarro, she had Mark Petchey a famous figure in the British tennis circle who worked with her as a teenager – providing coaching advice from the box.
Raducanu’s representative described Petchey as a “familiar face” who was providing “support”.
However, it is not clear how long the schedule will last.
Petchey, 54, also coached Andy Murray early in his three-time Grand Slam title career before becoming a prominent TV commentator and analyst.
He watched the game against Navarro with Raducanu’s team, which consists of long-time Florida ally Jane O’Donoghue and fitness coach Yutaka Nakamura.
“I came here with someone and that didn’t solve it, but we did some great work,” Rakanu said.
“I have good friends here, they know my game, they know me very well – it’s about trusting your gut and trusting you feeling.
“I think that’s how I achieve it.”
