Fragpunk review: not perfect, but a breath of fresh air nonetheless

In the crowded competitive shooter market, fragpunk It is the breath of fresh air. This is a more casual first-person shooter (FPS) Counterattack 2 or Evaluationentertainment activities designed to produce adrenaline fuel, rather than forcing you to fight any particularly complex strategy.

It’s a blessing and a curse as it leads to a quick match for flagship casual patterns, but often frustrates things in a proper competitive format. For players who like to relax things, this doesn’t necessarily break the deal, but there are other issues that delay experience.

If you’ve ever been in a competition Counterattackthen you will roughly know what to expect here fragpunk Follow the same format. Two teams of five players face off in multiple rounds, and the offensive side seeks to place the converter (read: bomb) on the designated site on the map. For the defenders, the goal is to prevent it from disappearing at all costs – usually when placing the entire enemy team or chopping it at the last minute.
The two sides swapped in the half-time game, and the first team won the four-round championship. Nothing special so far, but the developer bad guitar studio Mix things with its Marquise joining: Scratch Cards. These are powerful buffs that can fundamentally change the performance of each game.
In standard fragment conflict mode, three random cards are available between the two rounds. To activate a card, the team will spend a certain number of fragment points, which depend on how they perform in the game. Since the most powerful cards usually require about five points to be activated, multiple players need to select them to get the benefits – a clever way to reward a closer coordinating team.
The impact of each fragment card varies greatly, opening the door to exciting game possibilities. Some of my personal favorites include an interesting enemy that damages the enemy back to the spawning point, and the other covering the snow and ice throughout the map – causing both teams to slide in a mess.
Of course, I can’t help mentioning a card that allows your team to squat for a few seconds, then consume eggs, and then consume them for quick health enhancement. Is this the kind of randomness you want to decide on a close competitive match? Absolutely not, but if you don’t take things seriously, it’s an explosion.
Anyway, who needs balance?
If the fragment card is not enough, fragpunk He also has 13 heroic gunmen with his own special abilities. Each character has three characters, from the boundary uselessness (I’m checking Corona’s huge dash here and Jaguar’s faint electrical trap) all the way to totally overwhelming. There are even multiple characters that are almost invisible, leaving you behind enemy teams in seconds.
I prefer the ancient undead mummy Serket for this purpose because she can search for nearby beacons at nearby enemies and then flash again. These vague tornadoes are shown in her mushy state enemies, presumably to cover up the way they face it, so it’s hard to show up next to them, although I’m still able to usually be able to wipe three or four players off the back without much objection.
The best bit
The fragment card is definitely the best part fragpunk. Apart from those people I mentioned elsewhere, I like that avatar that makes the enemy’s head huge, while the other makes your team double jump.
The character broker then has a clicked rocket launcher, while the HollowPoint has a super powerful sniper rifle that can be summoned by clicking a button. Each Lancer has a compelling design, thanks to the cartoon-style art style, and given the huge breadth of the themes they embody, there is at least one that appeals to your theme mechanically or aesthetically.
Unfortunately, the Lancer does stand out the horrible monetization of the game. Apart from the small amount you start, they cost about 5/£4 Fragpunk coins, the most valuable of the three currencies. You can also buy them with more common gold, but they are very expensive and take weeks (if not months) to get. Some of the strongest characters locked behind this paywall, which left a sour smell.
Worse, almost every part of the main menu seems to be trying to sell you something and get clogged with endless tags, talking about events, challenges, bonuses, limited-time store quotes, and more. It’s a driven subscription service (it gives you monthly bonuses and access to every Lancer as long as you subscribe) and two types of combat passes, although I can’t really complain about the latter because it’s affordable and has a lot of rewards.
Not here for a long time
The selection of maps here is solid, but none of them stand out particularly when it comes to layout or themes, and the weapons are extensive in design. There is certainly some balance between the nine weapon categories, though, as the two submachine guns and assault rifles seem powerful.
In fact, there is no reason not to use them, as they seem to perform well in any range. In contrast, the shooter weapon (the midpoint between the assault rifle and the sniper rifle) is sadly weak and, therefore, is hardly seen in the game. Still, it can be easily fixed with some patches.
Arcade mode is usually poor. All Freedom and Sniper Deathmatch are totally uninspired and bizarre burst modes (the game continues HaloExciting infection) is well designed. Every match I played entered the Human Team Camping in the same impenetrable corner, which prevented the zombie side from doing more than waiting for the match timer to tick to zero. This isn’t very interesting for any group, I’ve noticed that queue time is increasing, presumably because other players are starting to realize it.
All this leads to an online game that might be delighted but does not bring a full-scale experience. Since this is a free game, I still recommend you check it out fragpunk If you are a fan of this type and want hours of entertainment, especially if you have a few friends who are willing to brigade, but I doubt this will become a staple for FPS in the coming years.
