Ollie Lawrence: England & Bath centre faces ‘long road’ back from Achilles injury
When Premier League leader Bass returns to the league this weekend after an eight-week break, he may also have no winger Joe Cokanasiga.
Last weekend, Bath ended 17 years of waiting for the trophy, and Cokanasiga was injured Premier League Rugby Cup vs Exeter.
“Joe slammed the lower level,” Van Gran said.
“(I) won’t guess (absent), he was under careful surveillance by Rory Murray (head of the medical bath), but hopefully it’s not serious and we’ll see him back soon.”
Bass cleared six points on the top of the table, playing against West Country rival Gloucester at the entertainment venue on Sunday a weekend at the Derby Fixtures.
After being defeated last season by the Northampton Saints, Bass is at the highest position to move forward further and win his first Premier League title since 1996.
However, Van Graan said the team is focused only on the next game.
“We don’t pay too much attention to external noise – we know there’s a lot of speculation, people have expectations, and that’s great because people care about the club, they care about our team,” he said.
“For us, it was like usual, (we) started zero two days ago – control the bits we can, don’t go beyond Sunday at three o’clock.”
