Department for Business and Trade welcomes Ghanaian Healthcare Delegation

UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

The UK’s Department of Commerce and Trade today welcomed a delegation of 15 organised organizations from Ghana’s health care sector for a four-city roadshow aimed at strengthening trade partnerships and development opportunities.

The delegation visited the UK from 17 to 21 March 2025, including representatives of the Ghanaian government, private health facilities, distributors of pharmaceutical and medical equipment, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The visit will strengthen existing health care cooperation between the UK and Ghana, which has covered research and training, transfer of knowledge and expertise, investment and strengthening of the health care system.

John Humphrey, the African Trade Commissioner (HMTC), who led the UK delegation, said: “The UK is committed to strengthening economic ties with Africa, and Ghana is a key partner in this effort as we work together with our economies to grow, employment, employment, employment, trade, investment and opportunities.”

The road show begins in London and then continues to Birmingham, Leeds and Cardiff. Throughout the tour, Ghanaian representatives will meet with UK companies that provide solutions and expertise that match Ghana’s healthcare needs. The initiative is in line with the UK’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with African countries and builds capacity to revolve around supply chain disruptions over the past few years. By working together – we can lead the global shock, mitigate their impact, and unlock new growth opportunities between the two countries.

He said: “The UK and Ghana have a long and stable partnership in health care, enhancing the health services available to citizens and providing opportunities for UK and Ghana businesses to support. This roadshow is a partnership that brings us collectively to innovate, business, and is full of efforts to grow and prosper between Ghana and the UK.”

This visit provides a valuable opportunity for UK businesses to explore Ghana’s growing healthcare market while allowing Ghana to gain UK expertise, products and services in the industry.

The Ministry of Commerce and Trade looks forward to fruitful participation among delegations, thereby increasing trade and cooperation in health care.
