Boxing at Los Angeles Olympics 2028: IOC votes to include sport for next Games
Boxing will remain an Olympic sport after the International Olympic Committee voted unanimously for the inclusion of it in Los Angeles’ 2028 Olympics.
When scheduled, the sport is not part of the next Olympic plan First announced in 2022.

The IOC and IBA clashed at the Olympics in Paris last year as two boxers, Algeria’s Imane Khelif and Taiwan’s Lin Yuanniao.
The IBA banned fighters in the 2023 World Championships, saying their gender qualification test failed, but the IOC allowed them to compete and both won gold medals in weight classes.
Founded in April 2023, World Boxing now has 84 members on five continents, including the UK.

“World Boxing understands that participating in the Olympics is a privilege, not a right, and we are determined to be trustworthy and reliable partners who will abide by and uphold the values of the Olympics.”
The IOC once said that their National League is a member of the world boxing sport to participate in Los Angeles only when the qualifying round for the 2028 Olympics begins.
The date of the eligibility period has not been confirmed.
