Seychelles Tops Africa’s 2025 GDP per Capita Ranking

Africa’s economic landscape in 2025 is still diverse, and the per capita GDP of the entire continent varies greatly. According to the International Monetary Fund, the per capita GDP of Seychelles is up to $22,000 due to its booming tourism and financial sectors. Mauritius earns $13,100, while resource-rich Gabon ranks third with $9,000. Due to natural resource wealth and stable growth, other countries such as Botswana, Equatorial Guinea and Libya are also famous, ranking fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. However, the heavy reliance on commodities makes these economies vulnerable to global price shocks. South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde and Namibia ranked in the top ten, reflecting a mixed growth of the mix of industries, services and natural resources. However, rapid population growth remains a challenge in maintaining per capita income income.
