Louis Buffon: Son of Italy World Cup winner pledges future to Czech Republic
This means he won’t follow in the footsteps of his father Gianluigi, who was part of the Italian side, winning the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Buffon SR played a major role in this success as part of his outstanding 28-year career, winning 176 senior international hats, 10 Serie A titles with Juventus, and the 1999 UEFA Cup with Paris ST-Germain and Parma.
But his son added: “My mom is naturally happy, but my dad is also excited because it was my first national team to call. He also suggested that I participate in the Czech Republic because it is the best way I can grow as a player.”
Louis was originally a training camp held by Czech under the age of 18 in February, igniting interest from the global media.
“I honestly didn’t expect it, but I grew up under a microscope with my parents and I hope they teach me how to do and what to say,” he said.
If Luis ends up with Italy vs Italy, there will be no problem with it: “I was born and raised in Italy, but I think it’s 100% professional, do my best, I have to think every game is important, whether it’s against Italy or another national team.”
