‘The party’s not over yet’ – inside Newcastle’s celebrations, with Alan Shearer
I don’t even know when I left Wembley after Sunday’s Calabar Cup final, that was that kind of night.
With my son Will and daughter Chloe, we celebrated directly from the Stadium to the Boxpark party at Wemery Way and hundreds of fans at Newcastle.
Champagne – Beer – flows for everyone, it was an amazing night, the kind you just don’t want to end. No one wants to go home, this is the first time I don’t mind the next day of hangover.
Everyone is at such a high state and now I still buzz with seeing Newcastle finally win a major trophy and the reaction that follows.
You can see Some photos taken from that night,,,,, External I mastered the winning medal of goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and the team brought the trophy home, but it felt like the most special part of all this because it was something many of us had never experienced before.
Maybe some older people won the Fairs Cup in 1969, but I am 54 years old and no one under my age has such a moment.
It’s new and it’s great and not over yet.
I’m going to stay for a few days because I haven’t finished the celebration – it’s an international break so I’ve been out of work for a few days. The party will continue for me – just like Newcastle’s return.
Football is the life everyone is there, and according to the results of each weekend, you have a good week or a bad week.
This victory means everyone will have a right for weeks – the fact that Newcastle won’t play again until April 2 just means they can get together more and more, which is right because of how long they need to wait.
