Players Championship Seven results: Gary Anderson beats Adam Lipscombe in Hildesheim to win 30th career title

Gary Anderson defeated surprise finalist Adam Lipscombe to win seventh place in the player championship in Hildesheim, winning the 30th place title of this career.

The 54-year-old Scotland’s two-time world champion beat the British 8-3 in Germany to end the eight-month wait for more silverware.

“The last few months have been hard for me. I’ve been struggling since December, so I’m happy to win one.”

The Scots wandered in early matches but asked the last decision-maker to get Krzysztof Ratajski in the last eight matches before Mike de Decker won a steady semifinal.

Lipscombe’s loss denies his fairytale results from his eighth game since the tournament early in the year.

He has beaten William O’Connor 6-4 in the last eight games before defeating Dirk Van Duijvenbode 7-4 in the semifinals.

O’Connor and Van Duijvenbode, two of the three players, scored nine games in the early rounds with Ryan Searle in the early rounds against Joshua Richardson.
