Enhancing public asset management practices in Kenya

Kenya’s infrastructure asset management enables the Environmental Roadmap Action Plan to provide clear recommendations to enhance the country’s national public asset management practices.
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (United Nations DESA) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) work closely with the Kenya State Department’s Ministry of Public Works to develop a roadmap.
“This roadmap will guide us to strengthen policies, strategies and actions to ensure that Kenya’s infrastructure assets continue to provide inclusive and resilient public services throughout the lifecycle,” said Joel Arumonyang, chief secretary of the state’s public works department.
“A strategic, data-driven approach ensures infrastructure investments are effective, sustainable and inclusive for future generations,” said Daniel Platz, senior economic affairs officer at the United Nations Dessa.
“Efficient and cost-effective asset management at the national and subnational levels is key to improving the improvement of public service delivery, especially in releasing affordable investment capital from the private sector,” said Bukokhe Wakhungu.
