Dunfermline Athletic sack Michael Tidser as head coach
Dunfermline Athletic has fired head coach Michael Tidser after 60 days and 11 games.
The 35-year-old joined the compensation plan in mid-January and finally reached an agreement with neighbor Kelty Hearts after more than two weeks of negotiations.
But he oversaw only three wins – two for the Scottish champions – his exit was triggered by a defeat at Fife Derby against Raith Rovers on Friday night.
The former Greenock Morton midfielder who took over James McPake left the second shot at the championship table.
Assistant head coach Kevin McDonald, along with John McLaughlan and first-team player David Wotherspoon, will be trained during the interim period.
Chairman and CEO David Cook said: “Obviously, it’s a tough spell for the club and our supporters. We wish Michael all the best and thank him for his efforts as a coach.”
“We are now working on making appointments to help us maintain our alliance.”
The victory and draw in the final two games dropped the champion’s bottom Airdrieonians to six-sixths of five shots, sitting in the relegated playoffs and hovering a point in the eighth-place Hamilton academic community.
