China’s Baidu Takes on DeepSeek With New AI Model

Chinese technology giant Baidu (start) Say it has launched two Artificial Intelligence (AI) Models including Ernie X1, which claims to behave with DeepSeek R1 “only half the price.”
Baidu said in a statement Sunday that it released Ernie 4.5 (its native multimodal model) and Ernie X1, a “deep thinking reasoning model with multimodal capabilities,” the company said, a super effective open source AI model from competitor DeepSeek. The Chinese company said both models are free for individual users of its chatbots.

DeepSeek Throwing Market In chaos Earlier this year, the Chinese startup released its own open source AI model, which, along with Openai’s Chatgpt, can use fewer advanced chips to make a small portion of the cost.
Baidu-listed shares rose about 1% in listing trading on Monday and lost nearly 10% of their value in the 12 months on Friday.
