UFC London: Meet UK’s next MMA heavyweight hope, Mick Parkin
There are often few heavyweight scenarios in the UK. Parkin said he became a professional player because he struggled for his opponents in amateur teams.
But in recent years, two key figures have emerged and have succeeded in very different factions.
Aspinall, a 31-year-old Manchester fighter, shot in the UFC rankings and is now the No. 1 heavyweight contender in the UFC, awaiting his shooting percentage at the championship and legendary Legend Jon Jones.
De Fries of Sunderland, 38, is one of KSW’s biggest stars. He is the main champion of European promotion powerhouses, and has had 11 defensive successes since 2018.
Parkin ranks 13th in the UFC rankings. He fought No. 8 contender Marcin Tybura in UFC London on Saturday.
Heavyweights, unlike boxing, continue to dominate the attention in the UFC.
Another heavyweight was launched on the spot, which could be strengthened by the effort, and under the guidance of Aspinal and DeFries, Parkin might be the kind of fighter.
But that doesn’t mean Parkin has any desire to fight Aspino in the future, the opposite is true.
“I don’t want to hit him. He’s my friend, but I hope he’ll be fully finished when I get there, maybe hope to get a fight with Jon Jones and get a lot of money and retirement.”
“But I still have a lot of battles, like for crazy money, I really don’t want to hit him.
“I’m at 13th now. I know I’m already in the eighth battle, but there are still 15 guys who are even going to get there.”
Parkin added: “I think there are 20 strange UFC fights in Teiburg.”
“So it’s not great to have 20 UFC fights. I do think I’m probably better than him. I do believe it.”
