Henry Pollock: England back row predicted try-scoring Test debut, says Tommy Freeman

Club teammate Tommy Freeman said England’s debut Henry Pollock predicts he will make his first test attempt on the wings and even celebrate the night before.

Pollock, 20, made two late attempts on Wales on Saturday – adding gloss England’s slam 68-14 wins in Cardiff.

Northampton Saints were the pilot of the six youngest men in England, beating Henry Arundell’s previous record for 36 days, after opening his account on George Ford’s pass.

Pollock’s rapid rise – from winning the Under-20 World Cup against England last summer to making his breakthrough in Northampton and making his test debut – is no surprise for Saints teammate Freeman.

“He’s incredible,” Freeman said, who became the first England player to try to score in every game of the Six Nations campaign.

“I don’t want to let him out too much, but honestly, he brings the same energy as a 20-year-old you’ve never seen before.

“I remember my first game I was shaking in the corner and nervous. But, there was nothing that confused him.

“I also remember (Friday) night. He told me in my room that he would try it for the first time on the wings – and then he got it.

“He also tried to celebrate in the room and showed me what he was going to do.

“But that’s his type, it’s fair drama for him, he supports it, and his career is important.

“That kid is pretty and special, I’m sure he will continue.”
