Donald Trump launches wave of air strikes on Yemen’s Houthis
U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. launched a “decisive and powerful” air strike against Houthi rebels in Yemen, citing attacks by armed groups on Red Sea transport.
“Funded by Iran, the Hotty thugs fired missiles at U.S. aircraft and targeted our troops and allies,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social Platform.
The Houthi-run Ministry of Health said at least nine people were killed in the strike and nine were injured.
The group began targeting Israeli transport targets invading Gaza – telling Arab media that it will continue to launch an attack.
Trump said it has been more than a year since the U.S. flag ships sailed safely, which was caused by the Red Sea – which has caused since the U.S. warships passed through waters between East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
He said the attacks would be “not tolerated”.
“We will use overwhelming lethal force until we achieve our goal.”
When Trump speaks directly to the Houthis, if they don’t stop, “hell will get nothing like the one I’ve seen before.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that Houthi’s “benefactor” Iran was “attention”.
Hushis is an Iran-backed rebel group that considers Israel the enemy. Since the war between Israel and Hamas Gaza began, it has launched many attacks on commercial ships crossing the Red Sea.
Initially, the group said they were attacking ships associated with Israel or traveling back and forth. However, many ships have no connection to Israel.
Over a year, major shipping companies were forced to stop using the Red Sea – almost 15% of global marine trade usually passed – instead using longer routes around Southern Africa.
Trump urged Iran to stop supporting Hushis, warning that the United States “will put you completely in charge and we won’t be very good about it.”
He also accused the former White House administration of Joe Biden of being “tragically weak” and allowed “unrestrained Husseus” to move forward.
