Premiership Women’s Rugby Final: Ireland hooker Neve Jones ready for ‘hectic week’ with club and country
Ireland’s campaign against France next Saturday in Belfast, Scott Bemand’s side resumed its action for the first time since the successful WXV1 campaign in October.
They won New Zealand in Canada and ended the game with a victory over the United States after losing to the hosts.
In the third place in the six countries last year, qualifying for this year’s World Cup in the process, Jones believes Ireland is “adding” their game in every test window.
“We have become a team over the last 12 to 18 months,” she said.
“I think we always knew it would be a challenge, but when we come in together we push each other and grow from strength to strength.
“Every time we are together, we add another layer to the game.”
Saturday’s match against France may not be the only meeting between the two countries this year, and it’s also a possibility of the World Cup quarter-finals.
However, Jones said Ireland remains focused on the six countries.
“In that moment, we were just looking at six countries, and that’s the next thing on the calendar, we’re going to start with it and come in the ages.
“After that, we can study the horizon further, but until then we can do it step by step.
“It’s a very exciting time for the women’s game, but as players, we know it’s Monday and it’s France Week and we’re trying to play.”
