Pedersen wins stage six of Paris-Nice after Vingegaard withdraws

Danish madman Pedersen won the sixth stage of Paris-Nice as American Matteo Jorgenson evacuated with Jonas Vingegaard to expand his overall game lead.

Pedersen rode Lidl-Trek to the British duo Josh Tarling and Sam Watson, who were away from Ineos Grenadiers at the end of the 209.8 km stage from Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban to Berre l’Etang.

On a cold, humid and windy day, Jorgenson’s Visma rented a bike’s attack, nearly 60 km from the line, illuminated the race and five out of the top ten riders in the general category, including Joao Almeida.

It ensured Jorgensen got another four seconds at the top of the general classification, with teammate Viggard evacuating the race after the car fell on Thursday.

Saturday’s penultimate phase of the mountain route from Nice to Oren was taken up the mountains on the 109.5-km mountain route from Nice to Oren.
