Passengers evacuate onto wing of burning American Airlines jet in Denver
When the fire broke out on the plane, passengers on American Airlines flights were evacuated to the apron at Colorado Airport, causing smoke to roll into the air.
No harm was reported in the incident.
The evacuation video showed passengers huddled on the wings of Boeing passenger planes, some holding bags, and flames burned near the bottom of the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration says passengers safely reach the ground using inflatable slides Denver International Airport. The agency said it would investigate the cause of the incident.
The FAA said in a statement to the BBC that the flight departed from nearby Colorado Springs on its way to Dallasburg International Airport, Texas.
The FAA said the plane was transferred to Denver around 17:15 local time (23:15 GMT).
After the flight landed, it caught fire while it opened fire on the airport’s apron.
American Airlines said the plane and six crew members had 172 passengers. All of this was safely evacuated, the company said.
It said the plane was a Boeing 737-800 and experienced “engine-related issues.”
