Max Verstappen joining Mercedes ‘not on any radar’, says Toto Wolff
World champion Verstappen is in compliance with Red Bull’s contract until the end of 2028, but there are some terms in his contract that will allow him to leave in certain circumstances.
Briton Russell, who has been with Mercedes since he played in F1 and won two games last year, said he believes the team will stick with it.
“We’ve had such a long relationship, so much trust between each other, and we’re focused on getting Mercedes back to the championship and trying to win games and championships,” Russell said.
“Showing a speech, so there’s no pressure from my side. I have no doubt about myself, when the time comes, everything goes into trouble. We have bigger fish to fry now, which brings us back to the top.”
Formula 1 is changing its technical regulations for next season, introducing new rules for cars and engines. This makes it difficult for any driver to predict which will be the most competitive team since 2026.
Red Bull may have greater uncertainty about it, as they have built their own engine facilities to work with Ford to build a new power unit for next year.
Mercedes has been the standard equipment for F1 engines since the introduction of the current hybrid rules in 2014.
