Jorge Martin: MotoGP champion could miss first four grands prix of season

MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin said he could be out until he continues to recover from the surgery to the fifth round of the championship.

The 27-year-old Spaniard missed the opening match in Thailand after suffering a fracture in a crash in a pre-season test.

The next Grand Prix will be held in Argentina this weekend, followed by the American Grand Prix in Austin at the end of March, with the fourth round in Qatar from April 11 to 13.

“I’m really in pain, it’s not my moment. I’m working to get back as fast as I want,” Martin said.

“I can also say I won’t be in Austin. I want to be there, but I won’t be in the race. I don’t know if I can be in Qatar (race car).

“It’s early, and for sure, I want to do some kind of test before racing because I don’t feel so good. I know Massimo (Rivola, Aprilia Team principal) is working on it too, so let’s see if it can make it possible.”
