Columbine shooting survivor’s 2025 death classified as homicide, partly attributed to wounds from massacre, coroner says
According to a report from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, a massive shooting occurred at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999.
Anne Marie Hochhalter’s “way of death” was released Wednesday in Colorado County Found dead
On February 16, she was “best classified as a homicide” in her apartment in Westminster.

Hochhalter was 43 when he died.
So far, 12 students and one teacher have been killed by two teenage gunmen in shootings in the southern Denver metro area. Sagittarius took his life.
Hochhalter was shot in her chest and spinal cord and eventually became paralyzed. She spent the next quarter century in a wheelchair.
In her adult life, Hochhalter became Advocate for victims of mass violence
. She also became close friends with Rick Townsend, the daughter of Rick Townsend, who was murdered in Columbine. After Hochhalter’s death, he told CBS Colorado that “she never suffered or got angry with injuries.”
