Chelsea v Man City: League Cup final kicks off four-games in 12 days between sides

Chelsea is used to the silverware confrontation against the city in the 2022 two domestic cup finals.

They are also rivals in the Women’s Super League, with Chelsea winning the championship in the goal difference last season.

But when clubs attract each other in the Champions League, even players can’t believe how the fixtures are eliminated.

“We all like ‘It’s crazy!'” Chelsea forward Aggie Beever-Jones told BBC Radio London.

Defender Niamh Charles added: “It’s so unique. It’s fun for fans.

“As a player, we’ve always been used to changing the opposition. But that’s it. Every game is a separate thing and you attack every game.”

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor at least understands the feeling of playing with competitors regularly for a short period of time.

Although she has never encountered four straight games, her former Lyon team often meets with Paris Saint-Germain in multiple games.

Last year, the French side met three times in a month – also happened in the previous season.

Bompastor told BBC Radio 5 Live: “There are a lot of similarities, but there is more room between us. At Manchester City, this will be four games in 12 days and four games in three different games.”

“It’s a rare thing in football but we’re really excited and looking forward to it. Every game will be different. The game from start to finish will be 50-50.

“Sometimes after three days, when you play again (again), everything is fresh, so sometimes it’s harder. But for both teams, it’s the same.”
