Africa’s Billionaires See Major Wealth Gains in 2025
African billionaires see significant net worth in 2025 driven by economic shifts and global market trends. Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has experienced the greatest growth. Since the beginning of this year, his wealth has nearly doubled to $23.4 billion due to the Dangote refinery business. Therefore, he is now the 85th richest man in the world, ranking above the previous 144th. South Africa’s Johann Rupert is the second best performer on the mainland, with an annual increase of $3.32 billion, bringing his net worth to $13.6 billion. Egypt’s Nassef Sawiris’ net worth increased by $1.8 billion, while his brother Naguib Sawiris saw his wealth increase by $1.2 billion. South Africa’s Nicky Oppenheimer grew the top five with $900 million.
