Conor Murray: Jamison Gibson-Park lucky to have played with ‘unbelievable’ Ireland scrum-half

Jamison Gibson-Park said he learned from the legendary Scrum-Half Conor Murray that he was “really lucky” to play his last game for Ireland on Saturday.

The 35-year-old will call in his international career after Ireland’s final match in six countries in Rome.

After the game, along with Peter O’Mahony and Cian Healy, they will also retire from the Test Rugby game, Murray in Dublin Defeated France on Saturday.

Gibson-Park said Murray won five Six Nations titles and he was “incredibly a great man”.

“He was one of the best in the world with courage in 10 years,” Gibson-Park said. Gibson-Park said he moved to Ireland from his native New Zealand and joined Leinster in 2016.

“I’ve seen it before and when I first arrived in Ireland, I was so surprised by how he performed, his consistency was incredible, and I think I had a lot of feelings at that time, and I might be a little inconsistent.

“So I’d definitely look up to someone like him and go camping with him and it’s great to rub it with him. He’s such a good guy and he certainly helped my career.”

Gibson Parker said Ireland will be motivated for Murray, Omahoney and Healy to end the time at a height of green.

“I’m honored to be able to play with these three guys,” he said.

“It ended in a good way for the finished lads, obviously this is their last game in Aviva, but we have another game (Saturday) to look forward to.

“That’s the beauty of this game, we still have a game to go and we can hope to turn around, so I’m looking forward to it.”
