Soccer Aid 2025: Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney to co-manage England at Old Trafford
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will join Wayne Rooney as two co-managers for England football aid in 2025.
Former England striker Rooney will also retire in his annual charity match against World XI on Sunday, June 15.
This year’s UNICEF fundraiser returns to Old Trafford, home of Rooney’s former Manchester United team.
Last year’s game took place at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge, More than £15 million was raised for charities.
“The prospect of leading my England team to win this June has made me excited as much as any heavyweight fight,” Fury said.
“Everyone knows I’m also a big fan of United, so for me, this game is even more special this year at Old Trafford, where I can manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney.”
Rooney, 39, managed football aid in 2020 and played for the second year.
He said: “I’m a big boxing fan, so it’s great to do it with Tyson Fury. We have one thing in common – we both take it very seriously.
“It’s great to tie up the old boots again – meet some old friends.”
Rooney will play with former teammates Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, while Joe Hart, Steph Houghton and Toni Duggan will all make their debut in football aid.
Singer Louis Tomlinson will also return with Sam Quek, Paddy McGuinness, Tom Grennan and Mo Farah among others.
Former Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci and Danish striker Nadia Nadim will be part of World XI and will confirm their football aid.
Football aid has raised over £106 million for charities since its first match in 2006.
