Dillon Lewis: Dragons to sign Harlequins’ Wales prop in summer
“I wish I could end this season stronger, but unfortunately, injuries don’t allow it. I’m trying to get healthy before leaving, but whatever happens, I’m going to go all out for the rest of the season.”
Dragon struggled at the foot of the United Rugby Championship table, with the Italian team Zebre’s 17 points, often the worst Wales region.
But Lewis supported Tiatia’s plan for Newport.
“We all understand the challenges ahead, but the plans that Filo has made look like they are promising,” Lewis said.
Lewis is also looking forward to working with former Cardiff front-row colleague Sam Hobbs, the Dragon Forward coach, while admitting his chances in the area emerged after Wales Pros Prov Leon Brown was forced to retire due to a neck injury.
“He (Hobs) played a big role in my development, brought me from the academy to senior football and was a great mentor for me,” Lewis said.
“I also want to admit that this opportunity might have been impossible if it weren’t for Leon’s retirement. He was a good friend of mine and unfortunately his career was shortened due to injury.”
