Nottingham Forest lose appeal against £750,000 fine for Stuart Attwell VAR post
Nottingham Forest has lost its appeal for a £750,000 fine for criticizing video assistant referee Stuart Attwell’s social media post.
They are Fine The Football Association’s “unparalleled scale of integrity attacks on match officials.”
Forest complains about three fines decisions, Everton lost 2-0 Premier League April 21, 2024.
Forest’s post said they had “warned” the referees’ Physical Professional Game Officials Limited (PGMOL), the VAR of the game, was a fan of relegated rival Luton, but “they didn’t change him,” adding: “Our patience has been tested several times.”
October Forest said the fine was “disproportionate”, but on Monday, the FA said the appeals board upheld sanctions.
“We believe this very serious crime should be completely punished for serious punishment,” the board said for written reasons.
