Secret Service shoot man carrying gun near White House
In a statement, Secret Service personnel fired earlier Sunday, wielding a gun, causing an “armed confrontation” near the White House, the Secret Service said in a statement.
The Secret Service said the man was taken to a local hospital and his condition is not yet known.
According to the Secret Service, they received a man with “suicide intention” who might have traveled from Indiana. The Secret Service said around midnight, they encountered the man’s parking vehicle near the White House and found a man walking to match the description.
The suspect was shot and killed by the Secret Service as officers approached, the agency said. Secret Service personnel reported no injuries.
President Trump was not in the White House at the time. He was spending a weekend in Mar-a-Lago.
