Marriott’s New Brand Could Please Value Travelers—But Maybe Not the Status-Obsessed

Marriott International (March) The latest brands are expected to offer some of the cheapest rooms. That should satisfy some travelers – though not those who are obsessed with status.
The Marriott told Studiores Brand’s potential guests, 32nd place, to “open luggage and comfort”. One Wrinkle: Unlike all other brands, it won’t offer any elite nights for loyal members.
Although the company calls its “new, mid-term extended accommodation” brand Studiores is part of Marriott’s Bonvoy loyalty program, members are not earning Elite Night Points (ENC) for accommodation. ENCS helps Bonvoy members earn elite status, with increasing benefits at each level including reward points, future checkouts and room upgrades.
Some travel viewers noticed. “For the Marriott brand, you can’t see the elite night at all… Hum?!?” Ben Schlappig, who wrote the travel website, wrote a travel website. One mile at a time. “Like, not even a quarter of an elite night, nor one tenth of an elite night?!”

Bonvoy members will receive four points and can be spent every $1 in Studios Properties when booking a free room. Some travel industry experts say this level is below the company’s norms.
“Keep at least 5 times the points in most brands and get up to 10 times the points for full service brands,” Schlappig said. “Bonvoy members don’t earn elite bonuses on these 4 times the points, so even elite members don’t earn more points per dollar.”
