Emergency services have been called to Westminster Palace, where a man scaled a building carrying the Palestinian flag.

A barefoot man was seen standing on a few meters of ledge on the Elizabeth Tower, where Big Ben was found.

Metropolitan police said police officers were summoned to the tower on Saturday at 07:24 GMT.

“Officers are working on the spot to get a safe conclusion to the incident,” the unit said.

There are at least nine emergency service vehicles on Bridge Street in central London, watching from the crowd next to police.

At around 10:00 BST, three emergency personnel were lifted on the fire brigade’s aerial ladder platform, one of whom spoke to the man on the ledge using a megaphone.

Police confirmed Bridge Street, located at the north end of Westminster Bridge, was closed to allow emergency services to handle the incident.

It is understood that an exit from Westminster Pipe Station has been closed, but management services have not been interrupted and passengers can use other exits.

The London Ambulance added that it had sent an ambulance officer, an incident response officer and his members of the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
