Taylor v Serrano 3: Trilogy fight announced for 11 July in New York
Katie Taylor will fight Amanda Serrano on July 11 in the trilogy round at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Irishman almost won her previous encounter with Serrano, the most recent November decision in Texas.
“I’m against Amanda, but it’s obviously a very special competition that offers every time we step into the ring, so I think it’s right for us to have a trilogy,” Taylor said.
Taylor will once again defend her lightweight undisputed title, with the all-female card going live on Netflix’s streaming platform. This will be the title of Taylor and Serrano for the second time they have become iconic venues.
The event will be promoted by Jake Paul’s most valuable promotion. Serrano signed a “lifetime deal” with the promotion company this week.
Serrano, 39, of Puerto Rico, is the world champion of the Feather quantity and said she hopes the trilogy round will be more than 12 three-minute rounds, rather than the 10 two-minutes used in women’s boxing.
“I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor didn’t keep his words and made the trilogy 12 three-minute round,” Serrano said.
“It’s a record payday for the two of us and we owe fans to honor the handshake deal we reached. She didn’t.
“But there is no doubt that every time we share the ring, it’s war and I know Friday, July 11th, will be the greatest because I finally got the official (victory) I deserve.”
The rival was a November joint event by Jake Paul v Mike Tyson, where 50 million people reportedly watched Taylor V Serrano 2.
