Manchester United won’t give me the time Mikel Arteta had at Arsenal, says Ruben Amorim
Arsenal headed to Old Trafford in the Premier League (16:30 GMT) on Sunday to face Manchester United without multiple key players, including long-time absences Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount.
Amorim said other injured players are unlikely to return on Sunday, but did hope that Amad Diallo might return before the end of the season.
“I think it’s just Amad (long-term appearance),” Amorim said.
“Even in Amad, we will see the end of the last month of (the season).
“I wish there were amads before and we’d see them.
“Kobbie (Mainoo) can return.
Arsenal beat PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the first leg of the Champions League on Tuesday, and two days later, United beat Oudhoven 1-1 at Real Sociedad.
Despite being a minor match in Europe, Amorim said playing in the Europa League is bigger than the Champions League.
“Initially, people talked about our spin in Europe. We’ve been changing, and that’s because of this,” Amorim said.
“Europa League is much harder than the Champions League. It’s not the game, it’s the recovery of participating in the Premier League over the weekend. We have to deal with it.”
