Former Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson charged with bribery
Former Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has been charged with bribery and misconduct related to the council contract, as well as 11 others, police said.
Former city politician Derek Hatton has also been charged after the Merseyside Police Investigation focused on many real estate developers.
Mr Anderson and Mr Hatton were first arrested in 2020 as part of an investigation into the award of construction contracts.
After his arrest, Mr Anderson said he would “continue to work hard to prove that I am innocent of any misconduct”.
