Paris St-Germain 0-1 Liverpool: PSG boss Luis Enrique says football is ‘unfair’

Paris Saint-German owner Luis Enrique ended his post-match interview with some positive attitude in Liverpool’s outstanding defeat. But it feels like he is not totally serious.
PSG defeated the Reds for 87 minutes in the first round of the last 16. Liverpool then won the only goal.
Enrique’s team had 27 shots – in the Champions League knockout round, one side was second on the record (from 2003-04), in which they failed to score and lose.
Unfortunately for Enrique and PSG, they held the record with 30 shots in the semifinals last season at Borussia.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was appointed as the matchmaker and saved nine saves.
PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma scored nothing, admitting Liverpool’s only shot to score three minutes.
In all competitions, PSG ended PSG’s 22 unbeaten runs and 10 straight wins.
“I don’t think it’s hard to analyze the game tonight. We’re much better than Liverpool,” Enrique said.
“We created more opportunities and achieved full performance in one of the top teams in Europe. Sometimes football can be unfair.
“There is no doubt (they can pass). We only play the first stop. We don’t have any loss side. If we can copy the performance tonight, we can meet the criteria.”
PSG forwards Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele, especially in the first half, were electric – and shot 13 shots between the targets, with a goal of 6 shots.
“We deserve more,” Enrique said.
“Their best player is their goalkeeper – he’s great today. Today is not a game based on statistics or details.
“We’re much better. We don’t allow Liverpool to play. They’re better than us in the first five minutes, but other than that, this is our top.”
Liverpool boss Arne Slot said: “If we had a draw, we were still lucky people. Today, they are the better team.
“It was a great result for us, but we felt the quality of Paris.
“Every basic stat shows you are the best side of the Champions League. I’m not surprised by how they performed.
“We have insufficient standards, it’s just the quality of the opposition. They show it today. Luis Enrique has created an incredible team here.”
